Mystified Music

Thomas of mystified has been less involved with new releases at the Archive in 2007. That is because he has been busy writing music primarily for small DIY labels, to be released in cdr or cassette format.
Because there are so many of these releases, and it would be difficult to collect them all, Thomas became interested in sharing some of this released work with the internet community.
The “mystified Oddities Mix” is a collection of 13 pieces from cdrs and cassettes released predominantly in 2007. This gives listeners a chance to hear the kinds of music Thomas has been creating. . . a chance to catch up with things. Note that these 13 pieces have been specially mixed into continuous play, for smooth listening.

Here is “Tarot 10″, an original painting by Robin Storey of Rapoon. The image was reproduced and used in a Tarot deck that came with his dvd release, “Alien Glyph Morphology”. Thomas is the proud owner of “Tarot 10″. He scanned it in so you could see it.

And another visual treat, the cover to the cassette release, “The Synthetic Room”, by mystified, 2007– on Elite Tapes ( www.elitetapes.com ). The image is by Sandy Spreitz ( www.sandystudio.com ), and the font work by Brian Wirth of Elite Tapes.

Thomas of mystified has written a lot of material. So much that it might raise eyebrows if he divulged how many pieces were his. Pets would screech, mothers would spank, fathers disapprove.

This is not the end, all things being as they are. There is a lot more to write, according to Thomas. But he would also like to not forget the material he has already created.

So, he has made several mixes of material from 2004-2007, on different themes. For example, one mix focuses on the city of Chicago. Another is about various drone oddities released on cdr and tape.

Thomas hopes to post these and other mixes online, presumably for free. So keep your ears peeled!

“Blast Detail” (Dumpster Score Recordings, 2007) is now officially sold out. Thanks to Andrew at Dumpster Score for helping Thomas to create a successful release.
