Archive for December, 2007
Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and a great 2008. On the 31st of December, 2006, mystified passed 5000 plays at Myspace.com– an achievement that seems more significant when you realize that mystified has never had the plays set to “automatic”– so that people actually had to press the “play” button to listen.
Anyway, this tickled Thomas, so he thought he would share.
In other news, the new N. Strahl. N versus mystified collaboration is sounding excellent. More on this exciting release later.
Happy 2008!
A 2-minute slide show featuring sounds and images from Thomas’ basement.

A track by mystified (and other tracks by great artists) can be found on “A Candle’s Golden Glow”, a Christmas dark ambient compilation released by Darkwinter Records: ( http://www.darkwinter.com/index1.html ). It’s free to download, so check it out.
Also, word has it that “Sand Of Ages”, a C30 split between Ctephin and mystified on Black And Purple Cassettes, is on the verge of release, artist copies having been mailed today. The release is very Mid-Eastern in theme, with drums, voices and swirling psychedelics on both sides of the tape.
Experience the joys of “Furnace Choir”, a new streamable mp3 / field recording at:

featuring Christmas music and heavy-duty household technology. In simulated stereo.

A nice review of the “M” Tin ( www.roilnoise.com ) is now up at Heathen Harvest:
“This is one of those times that brings home to me why I enjoy what I do so much – that in amongst the dross and muck you eventually find the gem that makes it all worthwhile.”

Mystified
KrellMuse
ASR016
“KrellMuse is a cassette release from Mystified, an experienced multi- genre band that focuses on noisy drones and atmospherics. The Krell were an ancient race from the film Forbidden Planet, who seemed to haunt the planet surface, and the catacombs underneath. KrellMuse asks the question– if the Krell were to write music for humans, how would it sound? Probably a lot like this release– gritty, droney, and mysterious.”

Take a look at the site for audio samples: http://www.abandonshiprecords.com/

“After a hiatus of some time Mystified returns to Webbed Hand with a new album of musique concrete soundscapes with soothing drones and subtle exotic motifs.”
