Some recent events have caused friends of Thomas to leave Myspace, perhaps for other sites. Thomas uses Myspace primarily as a networking tool, and as a place to host free previews.

The mystified Myspace page currently boasts 1000 “friends” and over 10000 page views. Plays are just under 5000, with the understanding that mandatory plays were never part of Thomas’ program, and you should only hear music if you actually press for a song to be played manually.

Note that Myspace now allows for 6 songs per artist.

The rumor is out that there is a new “Tribe Of Astronauts” release on Webbed Hand Records. “Rain 3″ is ” a symphony in drone, recorded on a very windy day. The listener is transported in a place of wide and profound resonance. ” Thomas recommends this piece– you can listen here:

 And who are the Tribe? To paraphrase Webbed Hand Records proprietor C.P. McDill:

“Tribe of Astronauts is a loose recording collective consisting of some artists affiliated with Webbed Hand Records, Treetrunk Records, and other netlabels. It is an “anonymized” project, an opportunity for the artists to create work not in the style of their main projects.  .  . Any netlabel artist may release work as Tribe of Astronauts on any netlabel, under the condition that they release the work under Creative Commons or Public Domain, and claim no ownership of or exclusive rights to the name “Tribe of Astronauts.”"

Thomas heard from Kris today of Tuft / Medusa Head Records ( http://www.medusahead.com/ ). Ctephin and mystified have had a cd in the works there for some time, and it looks like it may see the light of day.

“Advanced Refrigeration” is 3 pieces– 1 piece of restrained liquid and spacey sounds by mystified, and 2 pieces of wild, raw sonic graffiti by Ctephin. Rumor has it that the cd may be released with a metallic cover, and an A.C. / Refrigeration theme.
