2 Big New Mystified Releases

Out now on Suggestion Records:

MYSTIFIED - subdialogue CD-R ltd.60

`SubDialogue is all about drones. Sometimes they are lovely and melodic, and more often they are dissonant and grungey. There are rhythms and cut-up patterns, shredded static sounds, muffled voices, and lots of drones, drones, drones. The production quality here is not pristine, but very intentional.. Things sound the way they do for a reason. In fact, this release is a culmination of sorts of sound  experiments performed for many years by mystified. It offers a set of psychedelic pieces trippy even for those stone cold sober.´

Some News

Things have slowed down a bit– this is largely seasonal, Thomas thinks. But, behind the scenes, there is still a lot going on with mystified. Tree Helicopter and mystified are on the verge of releasing a split 5″ cdr which, if “Cobweb Kingdom” was any indication, should be a quality package. The split, you see, is coming out on Phage Tapes. A C20 from SoundHoles called “Ignite And Hover” should soon be available– a cool set of smooth drones and field recordings from South Saint Louis. Word has it that Allan Zane of Wyrm may be remixing mystified’s tribute to “Alien”– “Fever Stars”. God knows what that crazy guy will do to the drones, but it should be interesting. Additionally, Thomas has, in his opinion,  been doing some of his best work of late, so keep your eyes peeled and ears opened for such releases as a dark ambient dedication to astonomy from Small Doses Records and a tour of Hell from. . . even Thomas cannot say. . .

Magick Rituals 1: The Magick Seal

Svartgalgh Records proudly releases a mini-compilation, featuring 3 dark tracks. One track, of the dark ambient genre, is by mystified.

The compilation is called “The Magick Seal” and is based on the type of ritual magic that gives a person dominion over Hell.

mystified - “City Of Drones”

City Of Drones

Cities remain, in spite of their occasional ugliness, one of the most beautiful kinds of amalgamations of human effort. They are also a great place to find, of course– people.

Thomas has lived in cities for most of his life. This particular longform work, “City Of Drones”, is comprised of seven pieces. One piece permeates the entire work; it is a re-working of “Mutescape”, an actual field recording of an urban scene run through various filters and effects. The other six pieces are full of impressions of cities. They are largely drone in genre and use for the most part acoustic sources.

Thomas hopes this piece is fun to listen to and makes you think of all that is horrible and great about our urban centers.
