Spheric Cover

Mystified’s third release on innovative label “Magnatune” is out. This release is called “Spheric”.

“Spheric” is an ambient and drone release that is all about the most important sphere– the Earth. The ambient portions are very melodic and changeable, and are often accompanied by world rhythms. Tension is maintained, yet there are moments of serenity. Mystified hopes listeners will notice the many shifting layers of sound in the songs from “Spheric”.

For those not yet aware, Magnatune offers unlimited free preview streams. If an album is purchased, you help to determine the price according to your level of interest and ability to pay. Purchased albums are available in a wide variety of forms, including mp3s and lossless WAVs.

So stop by for a listen:

Pulse Ringer Pieces

It looks like a go– a 12″ lp, around 30 minutes of original music, is to be released by mystified and the up-and-coming German label, “Droehnhaus”.

The lp will be called “Pulse Ringer Pieces” and is currently projected to be released in early 2009. Droehnhaus characterizes the music as ambient– mystified would agree, though would add that it is a bit more active than some and perhaps a little edgier, without being too dark.

Thomas is very happy about the material and the forthcoming release.

Break out those turntables!

Pop Meets Drone

Unholy Swirly Cover

A response to current events? A fever dream? A strange idea? “Unholy Swirly” is all of these things and more. Mystified has added something to his oscillating drone textures: pop motifs. The basslines, rhythms and other parts seemed to grow very naturally from the background drones, creating, altogether, a kind of music that really floats.

Black Lotus– sounds of the Buddha Machine

November 8th, 2008 by admin

Since FM3 was kind enough to offer the loops from their Buddha Machine 1.0 for free and on a Creative Commons license, Mystified and Zieltogend endeavored to create pieces of music using only these sounds. We hope you enjoy the music.

Interesting News

November 5th, 2008 by admin

Mystified’s Thomas Park has been busy at work on sound design for a theatrical production opening in Chicago 11/6/2008. The play is called “An Increasingly Un-Cordial Invitation”. It is an apocalyptic ride through death and beyond, with various literary and spiritual figures making appearances.

Thomas’ role was pretty minor, involving some predominantly harsh and nightmarish sound beds, but he hopes his work will help spice up the production, which itself looks really cool.

Also, the old rumor of mystified’s music appearing on vinyl has been reawakened, with a possible 12″ in the works– more on this later.

Mystified Mellow Longform NetRelease

MonoDecay Cover

”MonoDecay is a longform excercise in keyboard sounds. The original keyboard track was modified in different ways and the piece represents the sounds at different points of decay. In the background is an effected track of sferics, the radio waves emitted by earth. MonoDecay is a very quiet track, very minimal, yet less droney than much of Mystified.”
