On June 29, 2009 Thomas Park of mystified began the new musical project “Mister Vapor”. This won’t be the death of mystified, but expect some excellent hazy, dreamy ambient drone from this new project.

Bill Fox played “Bending” from mystified’s cd “Frigid Radiance” (Triple Bath, 2009) on his excellent ambient show, Galactic Travels, on 6/25/2009.
Galactic Travels is an electronic, ambient, and space music show, that airs each Thursday at 11:04 pm on WDIY 88.1 FM, Allentown and Bethlehem, PA, 93.9 FM in Easton, PA and Phillipsburg, NJ, 93.7 FM in Fogelsville and Trexlertown, and webcasting on the internet. WDIY also broadcasts in Digital HD at 88.1 FM.

Mystified transformed some of his popular drone tracks by adding soft beats and light synth touches.
Take a hazy journey through your mind.

Mystified and Ctephin split
“Quetzal is a mind bogglingly great collection of intense music that we can only describe as tribal ambient noise - and we use the word intense very deliberately. Indeed, the first time we listened to this album we were blown away by the energy and sheer ferocity of the music, as wave after wave of sound poured over us like the billowing plume of smoke from an open incense cauldron. The hand percussion, noise elements, and overall sound design blend magically like an ancient witch’s brew, filling the senses with shamanic visions and sounds from vanished civilizations. Some of the most sensual and evocative music we have heard in a very long time.”

In college, Thomas was a late-night DJ for a freeform show on WNUR-FM, Northwestern University’s radio station.
The rock show for the station was pretty prestigious.
Needless to say he would have never dreamed of having his music played there.
But it looks like, 3/30/2009, Thomas’ Alma Mater station played a track from the vinyl he sent them, “Pulse Ringer Pieces” (Droehnhaus, 2009) during their rock show:

Showing off, once again, the original Robin Storey painting I own– “Tarot 10″ from his AGM Tarot set.

Exciting news! A fresh mystified release is available at cutting-edge digital download site, Magnatune. Magnatune is a user-friendly music site where you can preview entire albums for free and help to determine the price you pay for purchases. For these reasons alone, you should consider surfing in.
“Hellwaste Revisited” takes another look at the drones from “Hellwaste”, adding rhythmic and melodic components. The release is drone set to techno/electronica. Now “Hellwaste” is an essay on drone you can dance to, or simply chill out with headphones. Early listeners have been very enthusiastic about this one– it is bound to be popular.

Looks like it will be a split 7″ with Nocturnal Emissions and mystified at Droehnhaus Records.

100 copies, label rubber-stamped

A little cliche? Maybe so, but as mystified has made more and more friends into disciplines such as meditation, yoga, and even writing while listening to music, he decided to jump on the New Age bandwagon and create a mix of some of his tranceist material to be used for such activities. 9 pieces are included in this mix, from a variety of mystified releases, some netreleases, others cdrs. The tracks are carefully cross-faded to allow for a smooth listening experience.
A typical New Age experience? Maybe a little darker and moodier than many, but in a way. . . you be the judge.
