Mystified NetRelease On Okkulth Records

Spinning Decline Cover

”Spinning Decline is an eclectic mix of pieces, mostly drone in nature. Moods tend to be dark and melancholy here. Several pieces closely mimic the sound of old vinyl spinning on the turntable. Others vibrate with deep bassy resonance. Ambient noise is also represented in the release, though pieces tend to be more melodic than noisey.”

mystified- Grinding Bliss: Drones From Toys

Grinding Bliss Cover

Mystified decided to combine old and new techniques in this release, using sample manipulation and circuit bent and other odd samples with oscillating drone textures. Moods vary widely here, and happiness is even represented in a track or two.

“Grinding Bliss” is a lighter work for mystified, and should make for easy and interested listening.

“The Wire” Spot

Mystified in “The Wire”? Sort of.

The Ampersand Etc. review of “Skywatchers” appeared in a spot featuring the blog itself, as the most recent view of Jeremy Keens’ reviews.

Still, not too bad:

Drone Split Release: “Chronic Path”

“Chronic Path” is a collaborative cdr between Norss and mystified. 2 longform pieces are represented.

One piece is mystified remixing Norss. The other is Norss remixing mystified.

Both artists are very excited about this release. In terms of genre, it tends towards abstract drone.

The cdr comes in a dvd case with printed cover.

The Way Out– mystified music from car parts

The Way Out Cover

Strange music for strange days. Almost every sound in this release was created from car parts (then processed). Sometimes when times are hard, you want to pay attention. Sometimes you just want to escape. This release covers both extremes.

Special thanks to Gregory Wildes’ Gas Tank Orchestra.

Free Mystified Stream

Hi there!

Here is something Thomas wanted to show you– it’s a playlist of tracks by mystified from recent months, all available through archive.org.

The tracks are free to stream. Clicking the link should make the tracks stream in your player, assuming your computer accepts m3u files, and most should. The tracks are generally ambient, though different varieties of ambient are represented.

If you like the material, there is more about mystified’s free (and other) releases here, including links:

Special thanks also to artists C. Reider and Saluki Regicide for collaboration on some of the material in the playlist.

Norss and mystified- Golven [treetrunk061]– Hypnotic Drone

Golven Cover

Norss approached mystified and asked to collaborate. Mystified readily agreed, and the two artists put together a release of ambient drone material.

Mystified wrote tracks 1 through 4. The mystified tracks are original except for track 4, which uses sounds from K.M. Krebs’ piece “Diodical”.

As for the Norss tracks, tracks 5 and 6, the two tracks were created by deconstructing mystified work. “Koud” finds its source in various tracks from “Cold Telemetry” and “IJl” was done by remixing sounds from “Skywatchers” (both originally released on Small Doses).
